Off to the Netherlands

I’m heading off on my cycle trip of the Netherlands. The planned round trip starts at Alphen aan den Rijn then Haarlem – Zandvoort maybe taking in the Keukenhof Gardens – circle north of Amsterdam to Marken – ferry to Volendam – Edam – Hoorn – Enkhuizen (visit the Zuiderzee open air museum) – cross the Houtribdijk to Lelystad (that will be the big day especially if the wind is against me) – Kampen – Zwolle – Appeldoorn – visit the Hoge Veluwe national park and the Kroller Muller Museum – Amersfoort – Utrecht – then back to Alphen.

I’m going to make a real effort to take in as many art galleries as I can but am disappointed to find that the Mauritshuis gallery in the Hague will be closed for renovation, However research has found that Vermeer’s “Girl with the Pearl Earring” will be on display at the Gemeentemuseum in the Hague for the first few days of my trip. So I may get to see it.

I’ll be blogging my trip as often as I can so watch this site from about Wednesday 23 May.

I’m adding (below) a few paintings I’ve done recently. All of these will be exhibited over the next few months in Various group shows. More info later!
