October Catchup

I had a bit of a quiet spell following my exhibition in July, while I was busy with catching up on a couple of commissions I was not getting on with much other paintings. However over the last month or so I’ve been exhibiting at a number of  local group shows and making a few sales. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been much more motivated, painting or drawing almost every day and with the weather improving I have had a couple of days painting in the field.

The last few months have also been a time  of introspection for me with regard to where I’m going with my watercolours and I’ve been looking for inspiration in the works of other kiwi artists. Artists who are inspiring me at present include Paul Hanrahan and Angus Watson (both of whom exhibit at the Saffron Gallery and Angus has his own web site at www.anguswatson.com). While the work of these artists is quite different I really like the looseness of their work which nonetheless completely describes their subject matter.
